Two Velir Projects Selected As 2014 MITX What’s Next Awards Finalists
Velir’s work with InPractice Africa and SHADAC recognized for innovation, value, and impact
Velir, a full-service digital agency, today announced that that its work with InPractice Africa and the State Health Access Data Assistance Center (SHADAC) has been selected as Finalists in the 2014 MITX What’s Next Awards, in two categories: “Best Doing Good Innovation Product” and “Best in Healthcare, Wellness and Pharmaceutical Marketing,” respectively.
This year, MITX combined its annual Innovation and Interactive Awards into a single show recognizing Boston’s entire digital ecosystem. Since 1996 the MITX Awards shows have grown to become the largest and most prestigious awards competitions in the country for marketing innovations, celebrating the best creative and technological accomplishments emerging from New England.
"The finalists that emerged from an unprecedented number of submissions received for this year’s MITX What’s Next Awards, demonstrate the creativity and innovation of our region’s rich digital ecosystem. From startups to large corporations and everything in between, the individuals behind this work continue to raise the bar for the entire digital community."— Howard Kogan, MITX Board Member and Communispace COO
Velir worked with InPractice Africa – a new InPractice program created to support South African physicians and nurses in the management of HIV-infected patients – to develop web properties and support the creation of a native mobile application. The target audience are doctors who work in Africa with extremely restricted (and at times, non-existent) network connectivity and other technical constraints. With the new platform, InPractice will have the ability to reach more than 2,000 clinicians in South Africa with expected growth all across the continent. More than 70 percent of clinicians have reported that their use of the tool will improve their patient care and practice.
The State Health Access Data Assistance Center (SHADAC) – a program funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation – looked to Velir to help bridge the gap between health insurance data and the policy making process by producing timely and targeted health policy research. Velir redesigned SHADAC’s Data Center to better position it as a user-friendly and easy to update resource for a range of health policy survey data. The new Data Center pushes the boundaries on analysis of health insurance access issues.
“We are extremely honored to be recognized by MITX for our work with both InPractice Africa and SHADAC,” said Mark Gregor, CEO of Velir. “We pride ourselves on using web technology to make a difference in the world, and being named a finalist for this respected award validates our ability to deliver on that mission.”
Velir will be recognized in both the “Best Doing Good Innovation Product” and “Best in Healthcare, Wellness and Pharmaceutical Marketing” categories, along with the other finalists, at a gala awards ceremony traditionally attended by over 1,000 of the region’s top interactive marketing and technology professionals. Winners will be announced at this ceremony at the Westin Waterfront Hotel on May 29th.
