Chief Operating Officer Dave Valliere becomes Velir’s second CEO in its 15-year history

Velir, a full-service digital agency, announced today that its Chief Operating Officer, Dave Valliere, will transition into the role of CEO, while Founder and current CEO, Mark Gregor, will transition into the role of Executive Chairman. These changes along with the additional leadership changes described herein will go into effect immediately.

Velir was founded in 2000 by CEO Mark Gregor. The first ten years were formative ones with a strong focus on on establishing company values and a collegial culture. In the five years that followed, the company experienced explosive growth in head count and revenue, resulting from expanded practice areas, brand name clients in new verticals, and strategic partnerships with important technology providers.

Dave Valliere, Velir’s Chief Operating Officer, has been with Velir for over six years. He has played an instrumental role in Velir’s growth and is primed to take over leadership for the company.

"We need a leader with a clear and well-defined vision for the future to guide us through our next stages of growth. Most important to me was to find someone who remains committed to nurturing the values that made us the company we are today. In my six years working very closely with Dave, he has proven to have all of these qualities. If you look around the company Dave’s fingerprints are everywhere."

— Mark Gregor, Executive Chairman

Among other strategic plans, Dave will define new practice areas, explore establishing Velir offices in new locations beyond Boston, and provide staff with new personal growth and career opportunities.

As founder and owner, Mark Gregor will continue to be thoroughly invested and active in the company. He will spend more of his time nurturing Velir’s company culture and growing Velir’s networks.

Mark will also establish a new Board of Advisors, which is in the process of being formed. The Board will be composed of seasoned external advisors from both within and outside the industry and will advise Velir’s CEO on long-term planning and strategic investments.

To support these changes at the Executive level, Velir announced additional leadership changes throughout the company. Mary Kate McArdle, Velir’s Vice President of Program Management, will transition into the role of Chief Operating Officer, and Corey Caplette, Velir’s Vice President of Technology, will take on the role of Chief Technology Officer.
