Velir Wins Three 2022 AVA Digital Awards
Velir is proud to share that we have won three 2022 AVA Digital Awards for Drupal websites we created with our clients. Our work with Museum of Science, Boston won two Platinum Awards, and our collaboration with the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) won a Gold Award.
We received a Platinum Award for Web-Based Production in the Social Responsibility category and a Platinum Award for Web-Based Production in the Nonprofit category for the Project Vaccine microsite we designed for Museum of Science, Boston. The site, which was created with Drupal 7, acts as a digital extension of the Museum’s physical exhibit on the science behind vaccine development. Collaborating with the Museum, we crafted an engaging online exhibit, which allows its teams the flexibility to author bilingual content in Drupal. It also lets them easily make comprehensive updates to the site as new information about vaccines emerges.
The revolutionary redesign we did of NBER’s website received a Gold Award for Web-Based Production in the Nonprofit category. We helped NBER design a more accessible site on Drupal 9 where its audiences can easily locate and leverage its decades of research. As part of our process, we also ensured that the site’s modern editorial design could rely less on imagery to deliver information. We did that by working with NBER to establish a scalable, on-brand typeface and type hierarchy, and to craft a style guide that trains content authors on how to use available typographical resources.

About AVA Digital Awards
AVA Digital Awards is an international competition administered and judged by the Association of Marketing Communications Professionals (AMCP). The awards consider work ranging from audio and video productions, animation, interactive websites, blogs, podcasts, social media sites, and other forms of user-generated communication. They recognize excellence by creative professionals responsible for the planning, concept, direction, design, and production of these forms of digital communication.
AMCP consists of several thousand production, marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, and freelance professionals. It fosters and supports the efforts of creative professionals who contribute their unique talents to public service and charitable organizations. Over the past several years, AMCP’s Advisory Board has contributed over $280,000 in grants to support philanthropic efforts.
