Overview

A leading global law firm sought to modernize its digital asset management (DAM) capabilities to support a growing volume of assets across public and internal channels. To enhance extensibility, boost performance, and streamline integration in managing its over 40,000 digital assets, the firm engaged Velir to replace its legacy DAM solution with Sitecore Content Hub.

As one of the world’s largest and most prestigious law firms, this client operates across numerous international offices and manages a vast array of digital content. Their operations depend on timely and accurate access to over 40,000 brand-consistent materials for a wide range of use cases — from global marketing campaigns and pitch decks to a highly trafficked public website and complex internal systems.

However, their legacy DAM system was no longer meeting the firm’s evolving needs. The platform struggled with performance issues and lacked the flexibility to handle custom workflows, dynamic asset renditions, and efficient metadata editing. Managing image crops, synchronizing public links, and maintaining employee access to assets were labor-intensive and prone to error. With future growth in mind, the firm engaged Velir to migrate its assets to Sitecore Content Hub, a modern solution that would support scalability, integration, and automation at an enterprise level — all while minimizing disruption to ongoing business operations.

The client’s challenges included:

  • Migrating a vast library of digital assets to a new system
  • Increasing DAM scalability, integration, and automation
  • Handling custom workflows, dynamic asset renditions, and efficient metadata editing
  • Managing image crops, synchronizing public links, and employee access

Velir’s project team executed a strategic and highly customized migration plan to move the firm’s digital assets to Sitecore Content Hub. Key focus areas included preserving data integrity, automating processes for scale, and enhancing usability for internal teams. Our approach included:

  • Designing a custom structure to retain crop-to-parent image relationships for migrated legacy assets
  • Creating APIs for employee photo access via ID, with Solr-based caching for speed

  • Leveraging Azure Durable Functions for link synchronization and high-volume batch link generation
  • Developing a .NET Core tool to convert and import metadata while maintaining complex relationships
  • Using Sitecore PowerShell scripts to update 60,000+ content items in under two hours
  • Implementing file-naming automation and validation via ReactJS interfaces
