Velir Selected as a Finalist in the 2015 MITX What's Next Awards
Velir and PRB recognized for outstanding achievement on the World Population Data Sheet
Velir, a full-service digital agency, today announced that it's work with PRB on the 2014 World Population Data Sheet has been selected as a finalist in the "Healthcare, Wellness, and Pharmaceutical Marketing Category" in the 2015 MITX What's Next Awards.
Held annually, since 1996, by the Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange>, the awards have grown to become the largest and most prestigious awards competition in the country showcasing the best creative, marketing, and technological innovations emerging from New England. This year over 120 senior leaders from Boston businesses judged entries for the 32 MITX award categories that saw entries from over 1,200 of the best and brightest minds in the digital media, marketing and technology industries.

For the project, PRB and Velir worked together to visualize thousands of pieces of data into an interactive collection of data visualizations that highlight key global health and wellness trends. It was primarily targeted at policy makers to aid in more informed decision making and at the general public to increase awareness of these trends. The report is one of a kind in allowing visitors to explore current and projected data on these issues by region and country and examine progress over the past 45 years. The teams wanted the report to be more thoughtful than your average data visualization by telling a deeper story. By focusing on key health indicators such as infant mortality rate, total fertility rate, life expectancy, etc. the report provides a much more compelling and meaningful narrative than if it were to provide every data point collected by PRB.

Velir and PRB will be recognized along with the other finalists at the awards gala, traditionally attended by over 1,000 of the region’s top marketing, technology and design professionals. Winners will be announced at this ceremony on May 14th at the Marriott Copley Place, which will include host, Lenny Clarke - a Boston legend and comedic superstar, technology demos from finalists and the final round of judging.
